What is SASO EE Label?SASO energy efficiency Label English name: SASO EE Label, Saudi energy efficiency Label is issued by the Saudi standards organization (SASO) in 2009 to the energy consumption of air conditioning, washing machines, refrigerators and freezers product Label enforcement date, and the announcement to the Saudi national official gazette.Saudi SASO certification on February 10, 2016, the saudi-quality organization and the Saudi energy efficiency center issued a new technical regulation on lighting products.This regulation is called "SASO 2870/2015 -- energy efficiency, function and label requirements of lighting products".This regulation is applicable to imported and manufactured lighting products, effective May 1, 2016.

    The ordinance, SASO2870/2015, specifies requirements for energy efficiency, functions, labels, hazardous chemicals and energy efficiency labels in statutory lighting products.

    From May 1, 2016, all within the scope of control of lighting products, in the shipment to the customs, the customs will be trying to identify whether the lighting products have do certification of energy efficiency and energy efficiency labels with qualified.

    The technical regulatory products include directional and non-directional incandescent lamps, halogen lamps, self-ballast fluorescent lamps (energy-saving lamps) and light-emitting diode (LED) lamps between 60-12,000 lumens

    Requirements for SASO certification standards:

    1. The standard expressly states that the product specification and warnings must be in both English and Arabic;

    2. For special purpose bulbs, the intended use of the product must be clearly stated on the packaging and other information provided, and the product is not applicable to general household lighting;

    3. For common household or similar light bulbs, the standard is mainly assessed:

    Light bulb energy efficiency level: mainly divided into 7 grades: A, B, C, D, E, F and G.

    Performance requirements of lightbulbs: such as life span, lumen maintenance, switching cycle, start-up time, color index and power factor etc.

    The bulb must display the following information: trademark, input voltage, rated power, country of origin.The above information must be clearly marked in English and/or Arabic on labels, packaging, instructions and websites.

    The light bulb contains hazardous substances: including lead (Pb), Cd (Cd), 6 valent chromium (Cr6 +), polybrominated biphenyl (PBB), polybrominated biphenylether (PBDE), and mercury.

    The bulb's energy efficiency labelling requirement: the label must be on the package and is clearly visible to the consumer.

    Appliance SASO certification standard requirements:

    Production and import electrical products (household air conditioners, refrigerators, freezers, washing machines, etc.) of the company (importer, manufacturer and vendor) should be submitted to SASO application, to use electrical energy efficiency label permission.

    (1) conditions for the use of licence for energy efficiency labels

    SASO can use the energy efficiency label for the company after proving that the product meets the requirements of the energy efficiency labeling standard and the following conditions:

    The company shall officially register and handle relevant affairs according to the relevant regulations of Saudi Arabia;

    Products should meet relevant Saudi standards;

    The company shall provide SASO with any information on the product energy efficiency label and assist in obtaining the sample when necessary;

    The company has a responsibility to provide information to SASO that is correct;

    Fees required to be paid to SASO;

    The label applies only to the product described in the certificate and not to other products.

    (2) application for permission

    Hope to win a licence to use energy efficiency label company, shall submit to SASO application (product of each model requires a separate license application, fill in the relevant energy efficiency label SASO standard appendix attached form, and approved the attached lab test report.

    To grant permission to use the energy efficiency label, SASO does the following procedures:

    Study the application and test results submitted and compare these results with relevant standards;

    If you refuse to grant permission to use the label, notify the company in writing and explain the reasons for the refusal;

    If the product meets the relevant labeling standards, the license to use the label shall be given;

    SASO studies these complaints and checks their correctness for complaints about consumer products that wear energy efficiency labels.

    (3) cost, testing and validity period

    The actual fee is collected from the application company to pay for the technical and administrative costs of each type of application for the use of label licensing.SASO could detect the products from the market and make sure they comply with the Saudi standard for product labeling, and the company should bear the cost of such testing.

    The license to use the label is valid for 2 years unless the product changes.

    (4) punishment, supervision and other regulations

    In general, SASO should notify in writing that it refuses to give permission to use the label.However, if it can be avoided, the company can submit a new application if SASO refuses to give the previous application permission.During the validity of the license, the application company shall have the right to use the label on different media to promote the product.SASO has the right to issue a licensing decision to suspend or cancel the use of labels if the products produced or sold by the company do not meet the relevant Saudi standards.For any suspension or cancellation of the licensing decision or the use of the label in the advertising media, it will be punished in accordance with the regulations of commercial fraud control.SASO has the right to monitor the products on the market.
